What do you need to know before taking a beagle in to your home?
It’s often said Beagles are difficult to train, or that they only follow their noses. The latter is not to be denied, however, the Beagle has a will to please and therefore can very well be trained. My Beagles followed dogclass, and some of them are even agility dogs.I believe one should treat a Beagle gently, and that one should be aware of the specific breed caracteristics.
Therefore the next criteria should be considered:
- Always retrain calm and patient in relation to your dog
- Be very consistent in your reactions and behaviour
- Follow dogclass with positive reinforcement
- Spend much time with your dog, take him out for long walks, play, etc.
